This is just a very quick entry because I thought I had lost this blog for not doing any posts for so long! Zolynne is here and got me into it so I can post. Yippee! Hope I can still add pictures etc……
We just returned from a 6700+ trip and spent time in Terrace while we were away. While in Terrace we made a trip to Kitselas with a new friend, Cath McCrae, who grew up in Usk and knew George Kitselas etc. His mother, Lizzie Lowrie, made me these moccasins when I was born (November 9, 1945) and I carried them around with me all these years. A few years ago I was corresponding with Cath’s mother, Helene, who was doing all kinds of research on Usk and I asked her if she would like the moccasins. She was happy to get them and I took them up when we were there maybe a year or so later. Helene, sadly passed away in October of 2021. On our recent visit with Cath she told me she still had many, many boxes of her mom’s and the moccasins were there. We talked and felt it would be best to donate them to the Kitselas Band. The Band has done a great job revitalizing there heritage and now offer tours on their traditional lands. Cath, Precious and I went for a tour and then to their Administration office where we donated the moccasins, along with some historical information Cath found from her mother’s research. So happy to have found a home for the booties - eventually the Band will have a museum and they will be part of it.
(Going to publish this and then get Zolynne to help me put in pictures. The page on this blog looks different from my Adventures of Precious and SOB blog and when I went to insert pictures it said it couldn’t do that)
